UAB Center
The Universidade Aberta do Brasil (UAB) [Open University of Brazil] is a system of public higher education institutions dedicated to offering distance learning programs through collaboration among municipal, state, and federal governments.
UAB provides an opportunity for individuals who face difficulties in accessing university campuses to pursue online degrees, theraby expanding access to public higher education and promoting regional development. It is primarily focused one teacher education, aiming to meet the demand for qualified training among basic education teachers across the country. However, it is also open to the general public.
The system is managed by the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES), in accordance with Ordinance No. 318/MEC/2009.
